Teacher Biographies

Gohar Soukiassian

Gohar Soukiassian's teaching career spans over three decades. Many of her music students have gone on to become professional musicians.

Mrs. Soukiassian graduated with a masters degree from Komitas Conservatory in Yerevan, Armenia. For over ten years she was the Dean of the Piano Division in Gyumri Music School. After leaving Armenia, Mrs. Soukiassian also became the pianist-accompanist in Missionkyrkan in Sweden, for four years.

Since settling in the U.S. in 1998, Mrs. Soukiassian has continued teaching privately in the Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Because of the beauty of the Armenian Church music, Mrs. Soukiassian also enjoyed accompanying the Armenian Church Choir in Glendale, CA, for two years.


Siranoush Soukiassian

Siranoush Soukiassian has been teaching piano for over seven years in the Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Her students regularly participate in annual recitals and juries. She is also the music theory teacher at Best Traditions School of Music.

Ms. Soukiassian holds a bachelors degree in Piano Performance from the University of Southern California, where she studied piano with Antoinette Perry. Her teachers also include Phillip Young, Larraine Stivers-Madden, and Gohar Soukiassian. She has appeared in master classes with Jerome Lowenthal and Ann Schein, and is the recipient of numerous awards and prizes.


Klimentiy Kats

Klimentiy Kats has been teaching violin and viola in the Los Angeles area since 1993. His teaching career began in his native Republic of Georgia, former USSR, where he was the violin teacher at the Tbilisi School of Performing Arts. Currently, Mr. Kats teaches violin and viola at Best Traditions School of Music and the Allegro Music Academy in Fountain Valley, California. 

In addition to teaching, Mr. Kats is also a seasoned orchestral performer. His extensive performance career includes being the violist for the "Tbilisi National Theatre of Opera and Ballet" and the "TV and Radio Symphony Orchestra" in Tbilisi, Georgia. Since 1993 Mr. Kats is a violist for the "Santa Monica Symphony Orchestra" and the "New Valley Orchestra" in Los Angeles California.

Mr. Kats holds a masters degree in Music Education from Conservatory of Music in Tbilisi, Georgia.
